can be ordered for delivery within 1-2 days, and over 1 million

In addition, if the book you want is 'out of print', extremely
old or rare, we can track down secondhand or antique copies,

Secondhand Books
Venture downstairs and you will find a cosy room filled with
second hand books and a comfy armchair so that you can sit
and read at your leisure.
Our range of over 4,000 second hand books includes:

- Gardening, Cookery, Crafts & Decorating

We have a number of finer (and higher value) titles that aren't
on display. If you have any particular interest, particularly in military books, please speak to us in the shop and we can arrange a viewing.
Children's Books
We have an excellent selection of children's books, ranging
from children's and young adult's fiction, activity books, picture-paperbacks,
educational books and revision guides, board books (for young
children), learning-to-read schemes and fabric 'Soft' books
for babies.
AudioBooks
AudioBooks are a useful alternative if you barely get time
enough to read. Instead you can listen to them on any Hifi,
car stereo or Walkman/Discman. As well as for the time-starved,
they are especially helpful to those with sight-difficulties.
Hundreds of popular titles are available on AudioBook, on standard tape cassette (or spread across many!) or on CD.
As well as many readings of popular books, most BBC Radio
adaptations of books are available on cassette or CD.

Out Of Print Books
Out of print books include books that have literally sold
out, in that there are no copies left at either our suppliers
or the publisher, as well as books that are very old or specialist.
We have had books imported from the USA, Australia, and much
of Europe for customers who really wanted a particular book.

Book Tokens
We sell National Book Tokens, which can be used in the majority
of bookshops in the country, and are redeemable against new
books and audiobooks.
National Book Tokens can be spent here on new books, audiobooks
and maps. Unfortunately they can not be redeemed against second
hand books or any other product.
Maps & Atlases

We have a wide selection of OS Landranger (1:50,000) and Explorer
(1:25,000) folded sheet maps covering most of the country, and can order any others within 2 days. We can also order laminated
versions of any of these maps. In addition, we have:
- Tourer sheet maps for road touring
- Road maps for Ireland and Western European countries
- A-Z street atlases of West, South, North and East Yorkshire,
Lancashire etc.
- Road atlases for the UK.
- A large number of maps for local walks and route guides
Globes
We stock and can order a range of high quality attractive
globes, ranging from a £6.99 money box globe to a £720
antique-style illuminated globe with a brass and mahogany stand. We can also order any model of globe
in the 4 different styles:
- Antique style, in the style of antique maps, with cream
coloured sea, although all country boundaries are up to
date. The central globe in the picture above.
- Physical (shows the physical relief of dry land, with
mountain ranges and deserts etc. Country borders are marked).
- Political - shows each country as a different colour,
making it easy to see boundaries. The closest globe in the picture above.
- Star globe - an illuminated map of the sky.
Photocopy and Fax Service...
We have a black-and-white photocopier that can print A4 and
A3, enlarge or reduce, and print both sides of the page. Copies
are 7p each (14p for A3).

Greetings Cards
We have a wide range of quality cards, many hand-made, for
most occasions. In particular we stock the popular Helen King
range of handmade cards, the fantastic 'BugArt' range and a
number of stunning photographic cards from photographer Gary
Dyson.
School Supply...
We supply and deliver books to many of the local schools.

Book Fairs...
We have run a number of book fairs at local schools, providing
a choice of 200-400 titles. They are extremely popular with the
students and also help to contribute towards the school's own library.
